Written by Call of Duty Endowment on November 3, 2011 – 9:23 am -The Call of Duty Endowment is proud to announce that it is honoring Still Serving Veterans (SSV) with a $100,000 grant. Still Serving Veterans is a not-for-profit organization based in Huntsville, Alabama, that provides veterans and their families support in recovery, rehabilitation, reintegration into civilian life and jobs, and VA benefits maximization.
General James “Spider” Marks, (USA-Ret.), an advisory council member with the Endowment, explains that, “The Call of Duty Endowment is proud to partner with Still Serving Veterans as they continue to provide the needed job training, education and career transition assistance returning veterans require. As our soldiers make their way home from Iraq and Afghanistan, it’s organizations like SSV that make their transition successful.”
Noting the most recent increase in veteran unemployment rates, Will Webb, SSV’s president acknowledges in an Al.com article that “With a million veterans unemployed – particularly the young veterans who are coming back out of Afghanistan and Iraq – it’s a critical need.” “What our partnership with (CODE) allows us to do is really take our work force development and job skills assistance to the next level.”
In conjunction with our most recent partner, Still Serving Veterans, the Endowment is able to truly make a different in the lives of thousands of veterans who are coming home and looking for employment and support.
